THQ Nordic is the survival horror classic Alone in the dark ‘reinvent’. This was announced during the THQ Nordic Showcase. Leading the project is Mikael Hedberg, author of Soma and Amnesia: The Dark Descent.
Alone in the Dark is a 1992 survival horror game that many believe invented the fixed camera position for horror games. Games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill would have taken inspiration from it.
THQ Nordic claims that the new game will reinvent and modernize the four pillars; Exploration, combat, puzzles and story. So not only would it be a modern take on what we already know, but it would also include new elements and a surprising story.
You can already get a taste of the renewed third-person action in the announcement trailer. Some updated puzzles and combat elements, both melee and firearms, are featured.
Alone in the Dark has been in development since 2019 and has no release date yet. The game will be released for the Playstation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC in the future.
