A Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Error erases accidentally saved files and thus the player’s progress. This is happening to some players who connect Pokémon Scarlet and/or Purple to Pokémon GO. Anyone who downloads the DLC “Hidden Treasure” or “Area Zero” prematurely may also receive an error message.
Across Reddit, it appears that the small group of affected players have lost hundreds of hours of gameplay and their captured Shiny Pokémon. The cause of the error is not yet known.
